Philadelphia's
Story

The house from 1695 is partially buried in the ground. It has an eight by ten room with a stone ceiling and was owned by Johannes Kelpius the "Mystic" or "Ridge Hermit". People would bring their children and animals to the Ridge Hermits to be healed. It is located on a trail in Wissahickon Park.

A Very Old & Historic Philadelphia Home

This is an oilpainting of Johannes Kelpius painted by Dr. Christopher Witt (another Ridge hermit). It is celebrated as the oldest oilpainting in America and kept by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Kelpius died in 1708.
