John is a local graduate of Ambler High School, class of 1947. He then furthered his education at Peirce School of Business Administration, where he undertook Administrative courses. He also met his wife Nancy there.

After graduating, he joined the United States Army. He served from 1951-1953. He married Nancy and now has two daughters and one son, with his pride and joy now being his grandson.
