Dendrimer Signal Enhancement Independent of Label Type or Target Sequence
The following groups of images are photographs of x-ray films developed after probing for specific nucleic acid sequences with and without DNA dendrimers. The probing was done on dot blots that were prepared with identical amounts of target sequence where the plasmid mass of the sample is listed in the left column (plasmid mass) and the portion of the plasmid mass equal to the target mass is listed in the right column (target mass).
The following target sequences were used:
1) XRCC4- a human X-ray repair gene sequence
2) HIV-422 & HIV-520- specific for two positions in the HIV LTR
3) B2M-51 & B2M-151- human Beta-2-microglobin sequence (coding positions 51 & 151)
4)FSHr-51 & FSHr-251- human follicle stimulating hormone receptor (coding positions 51 & 251)
32P indicates that the oligos used were end labeled with polynucleotide kinase and radioactive phosphorus

Digoxigenin indicates that the oligos were end labeled with terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase using the Boehringer Mannheim Genius Kit.

For Each Blot:
All 4 lanes were prepared with identical amounts of specific target
the 2 left lanes were probed using specific oligonucleotide alone
the right 2 lanes were probed using specific oligonucleotide with dendrimer
